OUr History: Carlyle Automatics Vehicle Repairs MACKAY
Established in 1992 by Emanuel Darmanin, Carlyle Automatics and Vehicle Repairs first opened its doors at 27 Carlyle Street, Mackay. These days, although the location has changed, we’ve decided to hang onto the Carlyle brand our customers have come to know and trust.
Emanuel has plenty of years of experience working in mechanical workshops and rebuilding transmissions in Melbourne in his younger days where he eventually opened his own shop. By the time he opened the doors to Carlyle Automatics in Mackay, he was already a well-seasoned and highly experienced mechanic and transmission rebuilder.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Steve begin his apprenticeship in 1996 and has been working at Carlyle Automatics ever since. Emanuel is now enjoying his retirement while Steve continues to provide the same great service Mackay has come to expect from Carlyle Automatics and Vehicle Repairs.

Steve Darmanin
Owner & Head Mechanic
Steve began his apprenticeship at Carlyle Automatics in 1996 when his father, Emanuel Darmanin, owned the business.
Steve has over 25 years mechanical experience and is passionate about the quality of workmanship we deliver. You can trust that your vehicle is in expert hands with our team.
Steve not only grew up in Mackay, but he has raised his family here as well. He has had a lifelong passion for racing motorcycles and has had many race wins in Motocross, Supermoto and Road Racing. Previously a sponsored Penrite Rider, he has now backed off the racing to practice and compete in martial arts. Steve has a Shotokan karate State Championship under his belt and has had the honour of representing Australia in Germany in 2019.
HOLLY MURPHY
Office and Marketing Manager
Holly joined the Carlyle Automatics team at the start of 2022. She comes to us with years of experience in transforming businesses by overhauling office procedures and transforming paper practices into digital wonders.
Holly is also a Graphic Designer specialising in branding, outdoor advertising and Web Design. She consults for her freelance business out of our office as well. Check out her website hlmgraphicdesign.com.au

Zac FRANKLIN-Strachan
Mechanic
Zac has recently completed his mechanical apprenticeship with us at Carlyle Automatics. He has been with us since day one of his apprenticeship and we couldn’t be prouder of how far he has come.
Zac is a local bloke who grew up in the Pioneer Valley and loves all things country. He is an absolute gun when it comes to servicing and maintaining your vehicles.
DEEGAN MARTIN
Apprentice
Deegan is in his second year of his mechanical apprenticeship with Carlyle Automatics.
Deegan is also a Mackay boy who loves all things mechanical and loves his gaming when he’s not at work. We are looking forward to seeing his growth in the coming years.
